Smart and efficient water use, to promote sustainable agricultural production has our focus. When it comes to the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, water is an essential component. We aim for maximum yield with minimal water input for a futureproof agricultural sector, and food safety for all.

To support farmers, growers, waterbodies, (local) communities and others who benefit from water-saving agricultural practices, we apply a wide range of methods and techniques in finding sustainable solutions. This includes rainwater harvesting, water storage, efficient irrigation and drainage techniques. We also promote soil moisture retention and water reuse.

Nature-based solutions (NbS) can reduce the likelihood of droughts and floods. For the river basin of the Geul in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, the effects of 10 landscape interventions were modeled using the SWAT+ model (Soil and Water Assessment Tool Plus).
